Uncommon Ground Introduction: In Search of Nature This week reading really sums up everything about nature. There are a few points which I agree with. I remembered I mentioned in one of my essays that people have different beliefs, thinking and definition of nature. In this reading, it says we must never forget the stories are ours, not nature's and the natrual world doesn't organize itself into parables. Since people differ in their beliefs, the vision of truth, the good, and the beautiful are not always the same as well as the understanding of what nature means. Nature is a plce where people go searching for fulfillment of our desires. This is how people making the world make sense. People has drawn to nature as Eden, the paradise. Therefore, the question of "what is nature?" comes back to me. As the article mentioned, we will never stop arguing about its meaning. It has no definite meaning yet the nature mean something to everyone of us. The article also touches on virtual reality. As mentioned in previous blog, human being found cyberspace to be the enviornment which can be controlled and created by their own imagination. They believe they have total control over the virtual world and no boundaries or resistance to their fantasies. The virtual world is believed to be the pure opposition to the real but the existance of virtual world is "real". It is obvious that the real world we are living in contains elements in which the natural and the virtual mix together in a way that difficult to distinguish between them.
